Introduction to GIS

Introduction to GIS In-Person

In this introduction to our GIS workshop series, you will learn the foundations of GIS, including common formats, software, and ways to get support on campus.

We will use open data and open source desktop software QGIS to explore file types and map symbology. No experience is required.

Workshop sessions are limited to 12 participants per session, to guarantee hands-on help and troubleshooting. If you register and don’t think you can make it, please email Julie Goldman to make your seat available for someone else.

This will be a collaborative session with group discussion and interactive components. If you would prefer one-on-one instruction, please email the organizer, or book a GIS consultation with the Harvard Map Collection.
