Presentation Skills Workshop In-Person

Do you need to make a important presentation this semester?

This workshop is for current students, postdocs, and research fellows who would like to improve their oral presentation & communication skills.

Preparation is key, but practice is absolutely essential in helping you to deliver an impactful, confident, and engaging presentation. Non-native speakers of English are especially encouraged to attend.

This class will review some of the important techniques that will help you prepare for, and execute, a public speech for any occassion.

Below are some suggestions for fun topics to present on. Please select which ever you feel most comfortable sharing

Presentation topics to consider

Research: Current research project (5 - 10 min talk for a class, conference, jobtalk, etc)

Restaurants: Top 3 restaurants you tried recently (5 min talk using only photographs)

Fun times: Favorite activities for the weekend. (5 min talk, images only, share with us some fun things we should try)

Poetry/Music: Recite a poem, quotation or lyrics from a song (5 min, share words or music if possible)

Art: What are some of your favorite paintings, sculptures, architecture, or decorative arts. (5 min talk using only photographs)

Travel: Where to visit next? Share some places you have traveled or hope to visit one day? (5 min talk using only photographs)

Festivals: Special Holidays, Festivals and Celebrations (5 min talk on favorite events each year)

Anything: Surprise us with any topic (5 min, perhaps include interactive discussion)
