Opening Doors: A Conversation with Dr. Eleanor Shore

Opening Doors: A Conversation with Dr. Eleanor Shore In-Person

For more than half a century, Dr. Eleanor Shore has been a trailblazer, advocate, and leader in academic medicine at Harvard Medical School. As former Dean for Faculty Affairs and Deputy Director of the HMS Center of Excellence in Women's Health, Dr. Shore’s career has been dedicated to advancing diversity and gender equity across the medical profession. A pioneer of her era, Dr. Shore was one of just eight women admitted to her Harvard Medical School class as part of an “experiment,” and went on to forge an innovative path balancing clinical care, research, administration, and family life. Dr. Shore’s story is one of seizing new opportunities, breaking through barriers, and empowering future generations.

Please join us for a conversation—moderated by HMS Dean for Faculty Affairs, Dr. Grace Huang—to hear about Dr. Shore’s remarkable journey, her impact on Harvard and the broader world of medicine, and her reflections and advice for those forging their own paths in medicine and science.
