Call and Response: A Conversation with Artist Jules Arthur on Art, History, Race, and Collaboration In-Person
The Resilient Sisterhood Project presents an artist talk with the esteemed Jules Arthur about the vital importance of collaboration between community nonprofit organizations and artists. Arthur will share the historical, social, and racial considerations that help contextualize his career as a painter and sculptor. We will also learn about the socio-emotional impact of working with historical and complex subject matters, as well as his:
- Research-based approach to art
- Multi-media and painting techniques
- Eight-year collaboration with the Resilient Sisterhood Project
This artist talk is co-sponsored by Countway Library’s Art@Countway initiative as part of the public programming accompanying the exhibition Call and Response: A Narrative of Reverence to Our Foremothers in Gynecology.
