Countway Cuddles: Rosie (pilot visit)

Countway Cuddles: Rosie (pilot visit) In-Person

Rosie Lou and Marsha are excited to become part of the Countway Cuddler’s Crew.

Rosie Lou  (AKA Rosie, Rose, Rosebud and Bud) turned 2 years old  in late September,  At the same time she certified as part of a therapy team with Marsha through the B.O.N.E.S program.  They are new to this work and excited to share their time at Countway.

Rosie Lou (as have most of Marsha’s pups) was named for a female musical icon.  In Rosie’s case, she was named for Sister Rosetta Thorpe known to be the first guitar heroine of Rock and Roll.  The “Lou” of Rosie Lou named in memory of her dog sibling EmmyLou, after of course Ms. Harris.  Marsha’s name comes from...well better ask her mother.

Rosie is an exemplar of her name.  She is Rosie:  sweet, loving, soft as a lamb and playful.  She is also epitomizes a Bud with a lot of youthful energy.  At the same time she can be remarkably calm.  She has extremely beautiful deep brown eyes that are very human.  When you look into them, it is hard to remember you are looking into the soul of a dog and not a human.  Her eyes still catch Marsha’s breath.

In June, 2025, Marsha retired after 32 years as a social worker at Boston Children’s Hospital.  The bulk of her career was with the Pediatric Advanced Care Team, the palliative care team of BCH and DFCI.  In addition to being a social worker, she founded and directed both the bereavement program as well as a fellowship training program for social workers in Pediatric Palliative Care.

They are both excited to share themselves with your program.  Please stop by and meet them.
