Open Access Week 2026: The Cost of Knowledge
Join Harvard Library in celebrating International Open Access Week 2026, October 19-23!
International Open Access Week, held each year in October, is an opportunity for academic and research communities around the world to learn more about the benefits of open access!
The 2026 Open Access Week theme “The Cost of Knowledge” challenges us to consider the financial, human, and environmental costs of creating, sharing, and sustaining knowledge. Harvard Library will host events and offer materials that explore the dramatic increase to costs for accessing and sharing knowledge.
Stop by our table at Countway Library throughout the week! Experts will be on hand to discuss options for making your work openly available, navigating Harvard’s open access policies, managing your research data, and finding open resources to support your research and teaching. We’ll have plenty of info, swag, and candy! 🍬
